SOBs Favs: Mel D. Cole

If you’ve ever been to a Hip Hop show at SOBs, you’ve probably seen photographer Mel D. Cole. Getting his start at a Roots concert at SOBs back in 2002 using just a disposable camera, he sits down with Tone to talk about his journey from fan to internationally known photographer. Check it.

It all started at a Roots concert at SOBs back in 2002. It’s not hard to imagine it was an inspiring night. It started at midnight after ?uestlove spun a few tracks (a precursor to their highline gig perhaps?). They were soon joined by artists like Buckshot, Musiq Soulchild, Cocoa Brovaz (aka Smif-N-Wessun), Cody Chestnutt, Rahzel and Scratch (amazing beatboxers ), and Common.

While we can’t really take any credit, but we are proud to have been part of his journey. Check out Mel’s work at www.villageslum.com. Check out Tone’s material at http://www.photobytone.com.
