Harlem School of the Arts Reopens

More than a few of us here at SOBs can attest to how important our own art classes in making us the happy people we are today . Studies show that students with arts education are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, and that high risk students are less likely to dropout. That’s why we’re rooting for Harlem School of the Arts, which was just able to reopen it’s doors thanks to recent donations.

The school had closed last month after it ran out of funding. Even Mary J. Blige is pledging to join the efforts.  Since 1964, The Harlem School of the Arts has provided children and young adults the opportunity to experience and train in dance, music, theater and the visual arts. HSA’s mission is to enrich the lives of youth and their families in the Harlem community and beyond through training in, and exposure to, the arts.
